For Filipinos who don’t have a credit card to Verify their Paypal Accounts, here is the easiest way to apply for a card and become Paypal Verified. You can apply for a Unionbank EON VISA Electron Card. I personally used this to verify my Paypal account and I want to share the steps I have done to get this card.
STEPS IN APPLYING FOR A UNIONBANK EON VISA ELECTRON CARD:
1. Make sure you have at least two (2) valid IDs and photocopies of it;
- Passport
- Current Driver’s License
- Permit to Carry Firearms
- New Social Security System (SSS) card
- Government Services Insurance System (GSIS) ecard
- Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) ID
- New Tax Identification Number (TIN) card
- Postal ID
- National Statistics Office (NSO) authenticated Birth Certificate
- NSO authenticated Marriage License
- Original and unexpired National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance
- Police clearance
- Digitized Voter’s ID
- Philhealth card
- Office of Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) / Senior Citizen card
- ACR Identity card (I-card)
- Consular ID
- Barangay certification
- Philippine Overseas Employment Association (POEA) / Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) card
- OFW ID
- Seaman’s Book
- Government office ID
- Certification from National Council for the Welfare of Disabled Persons (NCWDP)
- Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) certification
- PRA Special Resident Retiree VISA (SRRV) ID
- Other Valid IDs issued by the Government.
Other Valid IDs;
- Major Credit Cards with picture
- Company ID
- Current School ID, for students
ID source: unionbankph – List of Valid IDs, Other Valid IDs
2. Prepare 350 Pesos (price when I applied) as payment for the Unionbank EON VISA Electron card issuance (already covers the VISA Electron annual fee).
3. Go to a Unionbank branch near you (advisable) or apply online (currently unavailable).
4. Fill up the Application Form for EON card, make sure you provide your personal details correctly.
5. Pay 350 Pesos as card issuance fee (already covers the VISA Electron annual fee).
6. Wait for seven (7) banking days (Monday to Friday are banking days) for your card issue.
7. On the seventh banking day, call your branch and ask if your card is ready for pick-up.
8. When you receive your card, you will also receive a sealed paper that contains your 4-digit card PIN. You can’t use your card yet. It usually takes about 24 hours upon activation of your card or ask the bank officer who gave your card about you card’s activation time.
9. When your card is already activated, go to the nearest Unionbank ATM machine and change the original 4-digit card PIN to your desired PIN.
10. Now you are ready to apply for a Unionbank EON Cyber Account. This online account is going to be used to track your card transactions. It’s much faster than conventional monthly statement of account via snail mail.
APPLYING FOR A UNIONBANK EON CYBER ACCOUNT:
1. Go to unionbankph.com, under “Access your account here”, click EON Cyber Account.
2. Click the “Enroll Here” link.
3. Enter your EON card number (the 16-digit number on the center of your card) and PIN then click the “Submit” button.
4. It may require you to input a user name that will be used later as your log-in user name. Wait for 3 to 4 business days upon activation of your EON Cyber Account.
5. If you’re going to Verify your Paypal Account using this card, deposit $1.95 (about 100 pesos, I made it 200 pesos for sure) to your EON Savings Account. Your EON Saving Account Number is located below your name on your card, the 12-digit one. This amount is going to be used by Paypal to generate a code for your Verification.
Hope my guide will help you. Thanks for reading.

Hi Sir, thanks for the info. I followed them all but my problem is I cant log in to EON online. And when I reenroll my card it says card is enrolled? Hope you can help me with this.
But when I used it as ATM transaction, it was ok/activated already.
Lastly, I already added my eon to verify my paypal and it says that “deposit sent”, how can i check the 2 small amounts deposited by paypal in order for me to verify it? last time I check via ATM, there’s no balance at all. What should I do Sir?
Thanks in advance! More power!

After enrolling your EON card for an EON Cyber Account, you’ll have to wait around 3 to 4 days for it to be activated as I said in Step number 4 of “Applying for a Unionbank Eon Cyber Account” steps above.
If you use you EON to verify your Paypal, Paypal will not send any deposit in your account, instead you are the one who must have initial funds in your EON card and Paypal will get it from your EON to verify it. To monitor it, your EON Cyber Account MUST be activated first.
Please read my post about Paypal Account Verification, the steps ate all there.

@ejyl
If you already have a Unionbank EON card, just go to any Unionbank branch near you and fill up a “cash deposit slip”. For your account savings number, refer to your EON card, it’s located under your card’s name, the 12-digit number.
Hope this helps you, thanks for visiting

ei, pano pag gusto ko na makuha ung statement of account ko o yung transaction history ko? sa online kasi last 30 days lang. gusto ko sana na maview ung simula nung September 08 (w/c was the time I opened my EON). I really need the copy. I have already e-mailed them pero mukang nag error ang online. Thanks a lot!!!!

@katrina
Yup, you are right na last 30 days lang ang pwede mong makitang transaction history mo online or your last 15 transactions.
If you really want a copy of your transaction history from the very start, you may try calling Unionbank’s 24/7 customer service hotline at 84-186 then press ’5′ for EON services.
This is not proven to work yet kasi nagrequest din ako by calling this number, sabi nila subjected to approval pa. Inform kita at this post ‘pag nareceive ko yung statement ko.

hi! saan ko makikita yung expuse number? I’m confused. I now have my EON card and already applied for a cyber account which is already approved. i haven’t verified my paypal because of that expuse number.. help me how.. thanks!
Posted on August 18, 2009 at 5:51 pm.
In order to be have your Paypal Verified, you must first deposit around 100 pesos to your EON account. Paypal will deduct $1.95 (or equivalent to around 100 pesos) from your EON account upon verification process. Don’t worry, Paypal will return this 100 pesos after verification.
To deposit, Just go to any Unionbank branch, fill up a cash deposit slip (your EON deposit account number is located on your EON card, the 12-digit number below your name) and deposit around 100 pesos.
Log-on to your Paypal account and link your Paypal to your EON by following these steps.
Your EXPUSE number will appear in your EON cyber account.
Hope you verify you Paypal soon.

Hello, i just had my eon card verified, and a client already deposited funds in my paypal account. So question ko ngaun, san mas maganda itransfer and iwithdraw ung money? sa ibang bank account (like bpi or bdo) or sa eon card na rin mismo? Thanks!
Posted on September 16, 2009 at 6:51 am.
Good day Lelila!
Add your Unionbank EON account ‘as a bank’ in your Paypal account. Use “withdraw to bank” option. If you want to know where’s the location of your Unionbank EON deposit account number, read my article here.
The reason why I chose to withdraw using Unionbank is because of the withdrawal fees involved. Read my article about the fees involved here. You can save a lot using Unionbank.
If you really want the cheapest way to withdraw your Paypal funds, read my article here.
Thanks for reading.

A verified Paypal account would speed up the payment process.

Posted on November 15, 2009 at 11:03 pm.
You don’t need to register a Paypal account to activate your EON cyber account. You can just follow the steps above for your EON activation.
In case of online purchases, there are websites that allow payments directly by using a credit card but this is very risky and unsecured since you are exposing your card number online.
Paypal is a payment processor that you can use for your online purchases and most seller websites prefer their buyers to pay using this because of security and convenience.
Posted on November 16, 2009 at 2:55 am.
thanks for that..
pacenxa na..first time ko kasi magkaroon ng eon card..kanina lang ako nagapply ng eon card sa union bank dito sa zambo. 2weeks pa bago ko makuha..
well for i’m planning to purchase something on a site and it requires a paypal account..and that site said i’d better go to union bank..so napaisip ako kung ano gawin ko sa union, eon card pala ang kailangan ko..so kailangan ko e linked un eon ko sa paypal?
Posted on November 16, 2009 at 6:47 pm.
Most seller websites require that you have a “Verified” Paypal account to purchase anything from them. Being a “Verified” Paypal member is like a proof that a real person is using their services plus it has more advantages than “Unverified” Paypal members.
One of the ways to “Verify” your Paypal account is to link to your credit or debit card. You can use your EON card to verify it but first make sure to finish the steps listed above including the steps in Enrolling your EON card for an EON Cyber Account.
Your EON Cyber Account will be very useful in verifying your Paypal account.
When you completed the simple steps above, you can now do the steps to Verify your Paypal account.

and by the way..can i also linked my eon card to my google account?kung pwede xa e linked maron nakong google checkout?
Posted on November 16, 2009 at 7:31 pm.
I think you can’t linked your EON to your Google account.
Posted on November 16, 2009 at 9:27 pm.
Posted on November 16, 2009 at 8:15 pm.
Yes, all the details in your Paypal account (for example, your Full Name) must be the same as your EON account to avoid Fees imposed on rejected or denied transactions due to inaccurate Paypal account details.

just want to know….which one is better unionbank eon or smart money card? please help i dont know which one to get. thanks.
Posted on November 24, 2009 at 11:48 am.
It really depends on how you will use it and I think both cards are good to have.
EON is an easy way to obtain a VISA debit card that you can use for your shopping needs plus upon having this card, it comes with an EON Deposit Account with ‘no maintaining balance’. You can also use this to verify your Paypal account.
Smart Money is also a card that you use for shopping and other things like loading your Smart Buddy or Talk ‘N Text mobile phone. I’ve seen some new developments for this card as they added more features.
How will you use these cards?
Posted on November 25, 2009 at 4:16 am.
i just need 2 valid ids to apply for the EON card? how about proof of billing and stuffs like that? and are there any unionbank branch in antipolo or where is the nearest unionbank here?? thank you!
Posted on December 2, 2009 at 10:30 pm.
You just need 2 valid IDs, no need for proof of billing.
They don’t have a branch at Antipolo, they have one at Cainta and one in Marikina based on their branch list.
Posted on December 3, 2009 at 12:13 am.
i see.. after applying is it possible that they would just send me the card??
Posted on December 3, 2009 at 12:34 am.
I’m not sure if they allow your EON card to be delivered at your preferred address.
I think they won’t allow it because upon claiming your card, you will also receive a sealed paper containing your EON card’s PIN. It will be very risky if they send your card at your address, your EON card might get lost as well as your PIN.
To confirm this, you can call the Unionbank’s 24/7 call center number, (02) 84-186.
Posted on December 3, 2009 at 3:50 pm.
ok.. thanks for the info..
Posted on December 4, 2009 at 5:03 pm.
Hi,
Just want some clarification. So it means the 350 Pesos I paid upon EON Card opening (Aug 2008) is not the Annual Fee Payment? I was really pissed off when they have debited my account (350PhP on Oct 2008) for the annual fee. I asked them (Malabon Branch) as to why I was debited again for the annual fee when my understanding on the first 350 is the annual fee for 2008. They said that they will waive the annual fee and that I will not pay the annual fee for year 2009. But last November, I checked and again I was debited. If the first 350 is not the annual fee then it will clear everything, as you have mentioned that the 350 is for the card issuance. Thanks in advance for the help – former UnionBank Teller
Posted on December 14, 2009 at 12:41 pm.
Hi Katrina Padlan.
The Php 350 you paid upon opening an EON VISA Electron card already covers the initial VISA Electron annual fee.
I think they just made a mistake when you got charged Php 350 as annual fee as you said last October 2008. They admitted their mistake as you said and promised to waive your VISA Electron annual fee for 2009.
It looks like you only got a ‘word of mouth promise’ from the personnel you talked to since your account is charged an annual fee this 2009. If I were in your place last year when that happened, I should have requested for a reimbursement immediately, or should have insisted a signed agreement that states that the annual fee for 2009 be waived.
Just a ‘word of mouth’ promise is not a guarantee that it will automatically be done because the personnel you talked to has a lot of other clients to attend to and more likely forgot his/her promise to you.
What you can do now, is to go to your UBP branch and talk to their manager or much better, seek the personnel that promised that your annual fee be waived. You can try to request the annual fee charged to you be reimbursed back in your cyber account.
Hope you’ll fix your problem with them. Thanks for visiting.
Posted on December 14, 2009 at 9:32 pm.
hi..thanks for the reply..as my former SSO have said,..the 350 covers the first year annual fee..you’re right..now it is really hard for me to communicate with Malabon Branch as I’m not in the Philippines. My aunt is the one coordinating with them but the SSO in-charge when I opened my account was away for seminar. Thanks a lot for your help. I’ll just try again. Hopefully this time I’ll get some action, or better yet I’ll talk to my former boss..maybe she can help me..thanks again and more power..!!! Happy Holidays also! =)

You’re welcome katrina. I know you can fix it soon.

Posted on January 19, 2010 at 10:50 am.
Good day agv!
Use your NEW pin in applying for your EON card’s Cyber Account, not the temporary one.
Posted on January 19, 2010 at 1:12 pm.
Posted on February 8, 2010 at 5:28 pm.
Hopefully maayos mo yung application mo.
Posted on February 8, 2010 at 8:49 pm.
Posted on February 9, 2010 at 12:37 am.
Good to hear na nakaapply ka na ng EON card mo. Konting antay na lang yan.
Posted on February 9, 2010 at 12:46 am.
May 100 pesos ata for every transaction at dapat i-appove muna ng bangko kung pwede kang mag withdraw over the counter. Kung deposit walang fee.
Posted on February 18, 2010 at 6:56 am.
You’re welcome redj!
Posted on February 18, 2010 at 8:18 pm.
Good Day~!!!
Is there a way to put funds in your paypal account?
Kasi gusto ko pa sana bumili online with “paypal express checkout “.
But I still have no funds in paypal…
Pwede po ba mag-send to paypal with our eon debit card?
Posted on February 28, 2010 at 2:14 am.
OR
Posted on February 28, 2010 at 2:24 am.
Have you already verified your Paypal account using your EON card?
Kung naverify mo na Paypal account mo using your EON, it means that your Paypal account is already linked/connected to your EON debit card.
All you have to do is make sure na may laman ng funds yung EON card mo before purchasing online using “Paypal Express Cashout”. Paypal automatically gets funds from your EON since they’re connected.
Posted on February 28, 2010 at 8:29 pm.
Thank you.
Yes I have verified it.
Another question…
Sorry for asking too many.
Bago palang kasi ako with paypal…
If I will use paypal to send money to lets say a Korean seller
who has also a paypal account… The money we have in our eon card is in peso …
The payment should be in dollars… will the paypal convert our money to dollar?
Posted on March 1, 2010 at 2:06 am.
Yes, Paypal will automatically convert your EON’s Peso funds to US Dollars using Paypal’s currency conversion rate for that day.
Posted on March 3, 2010 at 10:21 am.
pwede po bato pang add funds para sa paypal or alertpay? add funds lang po ung parang deposit.or parang credit card type to na kapag me bibilhin direct sa account mo? thanks!
Posted on March 7, 2010 at 7:08 pm.
@karl
Currently the “Add Funds” feature for Paypal and AlertPay that gets funds from local bank account is not supported in the Philippines.
You can link your EON as your credit card on Paypal para magamit mo sa online purchasing.
In case of AlertPay, medyo hindi pa fully supported ang Philippines sa kanila kaya hindi pa makapag-add ng funds using local banks, kahit nga sa credit card card e hirap pa.

i see. slamat po. mag aaply ako tomorow. slamat
Posted on March 14, 2010 at 8:55 am.
No problem.
Posted on March 14, 2010 at 10:12 pm.
Hello.
“PayPal has sent 2 small deposits to your bank account. Check your bank statement in 1-3 business days. Then, go to your PayPal account and enter the amounts to confirm your bank account. This completes our verification process which helps us validate you as the bank account owner and remove the limits on your PayPal account so you can send and withdraw (transfer to your bank account) as much money as you like using your PayPal account.”
Posted on March 9, 2010 at 2:43 am.
To make sure that you’ll have no problems in your future transactions and you really “completes the verification process” as they stated, just comply with their steps and do the steps completely.
Posted on March 9, 2010 at 8:27 am.
It’s already 5 days since i enrolled eon cyber account , but still i can’t log-in
..
Any idea, why this happen?
Posted on April 6, 2010 at 1:19 am.
If you applied 5 days from your April 6 comment, it means that you applied for an EON cyber account on a Holy Thursday which is a holiday.
It will take 3 to 4 business days for your application to be processed.
You can try to Enroll again to check its status. If it says that your “Card Already Enrolled for eBanking”, it means that you can log-in now.
If you’re re-enrollment is accepted today, it means that UBP didn’t received your enrollment last week.
Posted on April 8, 2010 at 4:41 am.
hi, your right, ive checked it now . friday afternoon , and i can log-in now, thanks ^_^
Posted on April 9, 2010 at 8:45 am.

Posted on April 30, 2010 at 12:19 am.
I haven’t tried that yet so I’m not sure if that’s possible.
You can call UBP’s hotline number for the appropriate answer to your question.
Thanks for visiting.

Your EON “account number” is different from your “card number”.
Card number is located at the center of your card (16 digits).
While your Account number is located below your name (12 digits).

Pwede.
No need to transfer anything, automatic na yun basta naka link silang dalawa.
