In anticipation for the fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez, HBO Sports airs new 24/7 episodes featuring these two boxing superstars.
The fight originally set last July 18 is postponed due to Mayweather’s injury that he got from his training. Billed by HBO as “Number One/Numero Uno”, it’s rescheduled to happen on September 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in conjunction with the traditional big boxing weekend in Mexico, their Independence Day.
Floyd “Pretty Boy” Mayweather Jr. came out of retirement and announced his comeback fight against Marquez during the Pacquiao vs Hatton bout‘s official weigh-in last May. Mayweather’s professional record before this fight stands on a perfect 39 wins with 25 knockouts and world championships in five weight divisions.
On the other hand, Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez‘s professional record is currently at 50 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw. He also won world championships in three weight divisions. In pursuit for boxing greatness and to chase Manny Pacquiao (currently at welterweight division) for a third bout, he moved up for the first time to lightweight division (135-lb limit) and defeated Joel Casamayor then Juan Diaz. Now, he’s moving up another notch, nine pounds higher (his highest move as of now) to welterweight class in order to fight Mayweather.
HBO Sports’ 24/7 documentary on Mayweather-Marquez bout is divided into four episodes. Episode one (1) already aired last August 29 on HBO while the Episode two (2) last September 5. Episode three (3) will be on September 12 and the final episode, Episode four (4), will be aired a night before the fight on September 18.
