Floyd Mayweather Jr. defeated Mexico’s current ‘Numero Uno’ fighter Juan Manuel Marquez last September 19 (September 20, Manila) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The welterweight bout lasted for 12 rounds but noticeably a one-sided match as Mayweather won by unanimous decision with judges’ score cards of 120-107, 119-108 and 118-109.
On the post-fight interview by Max Kellerman on Mayweather, Shane Mosley challenged Mayweather Jr. for his next bout.
The ‘Number One/Numero Uno’ bout also featured some good undercard fights. The results of the three undercards before the main event are; Cornelius Lock scores a fourth-round knockout over Orlando Cruz (featherweight match), Michael Katsidis won by split decision over Vicente Escobedo (lightweight) and Chris John won by unanimous decision over Rocky Juarez (featherweight).
