Floyd Mayweather Jr. Speaks Up About Manny Pacquiao Fight

Floyd “Pretty Boy” Mayweather Jr. speaks up about Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao’s recent win over Miguel Cotto and on the mega fight that everyone wants to see between him and Pacquiao on 2010.

After Pacquiao beat Cotto and captured the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight belt, his seventh belt in as many weight divisions, the fans chanted, “We want Floyd!,” roaring for Floyd Mayweather Jr. to be his next opponent.

Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach agreed with the fans when asked whom he wanted next, Roach did not hesitate. “Mayweather,” he answered.

“That is the fight the whole world wants to see,” Roach said in an interview referring to a possible bout with Mayweather Jr..

Weeks earlier before the “FirePower” showdown, Pacquiao said that he doesn’t think Mayweather Jr. will step up to the plate. A factor, money.

“Boxing for him is like a business,” Pacquiao said. “He doesn’t care about the people around him watching. He doesn’t care if the fight is boring, as long as the fight is finished and he gets (plenty of) money. … I want people to be happy. You have a big responsibility as a boxer.”

Recently after Pacquiao’s win over Miguel Cotto, Floyd Mayweather Jr. gave his thoughts about Manny Pacquiao in an interview on a British broadcaster Sky Sports and here’s some notable things that he said.

“He’s just a fighter, you know, a good puncher but just one-dimensional,” Mayweather Jr. said about Pacquiao’s skills as a boxer.

“If he wants to fight Floyd Mayweather, all he got to do is step up to the plate,” Mayweather Jr. said.

“If I go out and make $50 or $60 million in one night, or $75 million in one night, c’mon man, I’m not losing,” Mayweather Jr. added.

If the fight between these two boxing superstars goes ahead, it is expected to match or even surpass the current most profitable fight in history set during the De La Hoya-Mayweather bout last 2007 that earned an estimated total of $77 million.
