Pacquiao’s Response to Mayweather Jr.’s Challenge

Pretty Boy on Pac-Man. After Manny Pacquiao defeated Miguel Cotto, Floyd Mayweather Jr. stated a challenge to Pacquiao on interviews.

“If he wants to fight Floyd Mayweather, all he got to do is step up to the plate,” Mayweather Jr. said in an interview on a British broadcaster. Watch Mayweather speaks up about Pacquiao fight.

“Tell Manny Pacquiao to be his own man and stop letting everyone, including his loudmouth trainer, talk for him. I am my own boss, speak for myself and tell it like it is. If Manny Pacquiao wants to fight me, all he has to do is step up to the plate and say it himself.” Mayweather Jr. said on a separate interview.

Pacquiao already stated his desire to fight Mayweather on various occasions this 2009 even before he fought Miguel Cotto last November 14 but “for the record,” KTLA asked Pacquiao himself to answer Mayweather right before his victory party, and here’s what Pacquiao said to KLTV’s Cher Calvin,

Cher Calvin: “For the record, do you want to fight Mayweather?”

Manny Pacquiao: “For the record, yeah.”

Freddie Roach on Mayweather saying that Pacquiao is just a “One-Dimensional” fighter

In an interview on Sky Sports, Mayweather Jr. stated that, “He’s just a fighter, you know, a good puncher but just one-dimensional,” referring to Pacquiao’s boxing skills.

Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach responded on a separate interview in his Wild Card Gym in California here, “One-dimensional? Well let’s fight and see,” Roach said.

“If that’s the case, all he does is run. He’s one dimensional, too — run, run, run. Then we’ll attack, attack, attack and that will make it a big fight,” said Roach.

As part of a tradition, Pacquiao dropped by at the Wild Card Gym. He always visits the gym on the Monday after a fight, talk to his “master” trainer, and greet his loyal fans.

The pound for pound king didn’t stay long this time as he needed to go to a nearby hospital to have x-rays on his swollen right hand. However, he said he felt better now than the day after the fight according to the article.
