Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Shane Mosley On May 1st

With the recent earthquake that shook the Berto family‘s homeland, the Shane Mosley vs Andre Berto fight this January ended up on a cancellation.

Although this fight is closed, it opens a potential fight that a lot of boxing fans wanted to see, a boxing match between “Pretty Boy” Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs “Sugar” Shane Mosley.

After the negotiations for a Pacquiao vs Mayweather mega fight went off a few weeks ago due to issues that both camps have not agreed on, Pacquiao’s camp moved on and chose the Ghanaian boxer Joshua Clottey for his next fight, a former IBF (International Boxing Federation) welterweight champion.

As for the Mayweather camp, they haven’t named an official opponent yet. Mosley’s previous fight was almost a year ago when he defeated Antonio Margarito for the WBA welterweight belt. Now that Mosley’s available, he could potentially be Mayweather, Jr.’s next opponent.

The potential Mayweather vs Mosley bout initially heated up on the post-fight interview by Max Kellerman after Mayweather Jr. beat Juan Manuel Marquez last September 2009 when Mosley together with Bernard Hopkins taunted Mayweather Jr. for a bout.

Mosley said that, “The fans want to see a great fight, me and “Money” Mayweather. Let’s get this on! Let’s do it!”

Watch the interview below.

No one knows if the Mayweather-Mosley bout will happen until the official announcement. I hope that this fight happens and a lot of boxing fans wanted to see this fight. Both boxers are connected with Golden Boy Promotions.

Update!

  1. Mayweather vs Mosley says:

Both Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosley were bred to be fighters like a farmer’s prized horse. Both guys grew up with boxing gloves hanging from their crib ceilings. The debating can go on and on forever. The bottom line is neither guy is going to give you an inch – both fighters are relaxed in the ring, comfortable and fluid in such a way that it’s easy to believe boxing pumps through their veins in absence of blood. Mayweather vs Mosley im really looking forward to.

Mayweather looked untouchable against the smaller Marquez and Mosley was awesome against Margarito. That fight was 18 months ago and previous to that Mosley looked ordinary against a washed up Mayorga. So is Shane still in top nick? I see Mosley starting fast using his jab to take the early rounds. Floyd usually starts slowly but will take control around round 5. The usual dropping of the shoulder and lightning counter punching will take Floyd home to a points victory and hopefully setting up the fight with Manny.

Both fighters were really impressive on their last fights. Mayweather utilized his advantages well against Marquez while Margarito’s speed overwhelmed Margarito.

For this Mayweather-Mosley bout, both fighters have the speed. I think Mayweather has the edge because of his defensive skills, Mosley must be careful with his attacks ‘coz Floyd is a counter-puncher.

Even though I want mayweather to lose the fight but between mayweather and mosley, im placing my bets on mayweather so that he can fight pacquiao and make it the biggest fight in boxing history, now this is the time my hope is on manny

  3. Mayweather vs Mosley says:

The Mayweather vs Mosley fight is expected to get over 3 million PPV sales and more than the Pacquiao vs Clottey fight. Mayweather the more defensive fighter is the People’s Choice but let’s not take for granted the skills of Mosley.

Mosley has had big fights against dela Hoya, Margarito, Vargas and a lot more heavy punchers.

Mayweather on the other hand who has the reputation of choosing Light Punchers has also great defense. But defense doesn’t make you win in boxing.

I go for Mosley on May 1, 2010 on a UD win.

  4. Mayweather vs Mosley News says:

Mosley is gonna try to push the fight most of the time and be aggressive; mayweather is gonna come in there in top shape and do what cotto did to mosley but better. It is gonna be a close fight and a great fight, but mayweather will win. Mayweather is gonna fight just like he described, which is great like always, he has tricks up his sleeve, and there is “no blueprint”. He is too sharp to lose to mosley. He will defend great like always, and will hit mosley in the face enough for 12 rounds and get a decision.

  5. Floyd Mayweather vs Shane Mosley says:

Floyd Mayweather vs Shane Mosley will surely be a very hit fight. The war of welterweight champions is on! Who’s gonna win this fight. :D
